What is happening to our schools these days?
I recently read a friends Facebook page which inspired this post, where she wrote the following…
“I find it pretty odd that my 6th grade son has no math homework because his teacher went over his photocopy budget and can not make any more.”
WTF is up with that? First off what happened to using your text book, and the students using their own lined paper to do the work on?
Supplies: Along with the above, teachers are sending notes home asking for help with paper, pencils and other miscellaneous items for their classrooms.
Six grade camp: It’s bad enough that they cut it from five days to four. But even worst some schools have even cut out 6th grade camp. It’s unfortunate because it’s such a great experience for kids and it’s a shame that they won’t be able to experience it.
Teachers: They are asking experienced teachers to retire or firing them so they can hire young and inexperienced teachers at a much lower salary.
Minimum Days: It used to be that once in a while you would have a minimum day and we would be so excited as kids. Now it’s a weekly thing.
Lunches: School lunches are no longer prepared at school. Instead they bring in more of a microwaved meal, making school lunches even more less desirable.
Education: The education in general just sucks. And to think that the kids now, are the same ones that will be running this country later in life.
I am sure I can think of a lot more to complain about, but I wanna leave some up to you. So let’s here it.
Update: Wanted to add my Sister In Laws comment that was left on the original post
OK, I will sound off….. I for one & very pleased with the job our schools & teachers here in El Cajon are doing. I feel like its our jobs as parents to back up the schools. I dont know how much time other parents are actually sitting with their children (side by side) working on homework or school projects but i know we are doing it for at least an hour a night & sometimes more. I spend another 30 minutes each night reading with my younger son. He reads 2 pages & I read 2 pages. This goes on for the full half hour, then we talk about what we were reading. My youngest son is almost 10 years old & he is a pretty average student (B’s & C’c), my 13 year old twins are in all honors classes & recieve excellent grades! Call me “big headed” but I pat myself on the back everytime my 3 kids bring home a report card. I am proud! I’m proud of my kids hard work, I’m proud that we have great schools & teachers & I’m proud of the way I’m raising my children! If my kids end up turning out to be jack asses as adults, I will take the blame. Everything starts at home & I’m not one to shift the blame on the school system. If parents feel the schools arn’t cutting it, pick up the slack at home! Thanks for providing an EXCELLENT topic for me to rant on! LOL, xoxo

Lol, that was a good one!
LOL like how I added ur comment?
Ya, I saw that… I was all fired up, lmao
