With trying to become more fit and in shape I decided that I would share some of my new found knowledge. There is so much information I could share with you about what I have learned about the goods of making sure you drink enough water for your body along with the bad of drinking too much (yes there is such a thing). However I will just share the basics, however most of it is common sense.
Dehydration:
Feel thirsty? Then you are probably dehydrated. Other symptoms of dehydration (which I have experienced all) include headaches, loss of concentration, tiredness, and dry eyes and skin. I now bring my 32 oz water bottle with me everywhere.
How much water to drink daily:
The old way of thinking of how much water to drink per a day is 8 glasses at 8 ounces each. However you may need more with exercising, being in the heat, or those of us who are overweight we require more as well. Now the rule of thumb for your water intake is to divide your weight by 2 (example: 200 pounds divided by 2 = 100 ounces) equals the amount in ounces of water that you need each day. I also read that it should be cold as it is absorbed into our system quicker the evidence suggest that it may even help burn calories, if that is the case then I will never drink warm water again lol.
How to increase daily water intake:
At first it may not be so easy, but if you get a nice size water bottle and keep it with you throughout the day I find it alot easier to drink the amount of water I should. So I am not constantly getting up to fill up my glass. I sometimes catch myself laying in bed watching TV slowly just sucking away on the straw of my water. I’m sure I look pretty silly with it attached to my face. But I do know I feel alot better knowing that I’m drinking my required water for the day.
