Love-Hate Relationships

Love-hate relationships to me are like an addiction to a drug. Your family and friends think your crazy for doing it. You want to quit because you know it’s bad for you (for what ever reason), but find your self coming back for more and more no matter what because you love the short term effects of it. Something about that person drives you wild and makes you coming back for more and that unfortunately lets you plummet further down, letting yourself be more vulnerable to heartache and pain.

As described by wikipedia.org:

A love-hate relationship is a personal relationship between humans or organizations, or figuratively between a human and an inanimate object, like a computer, a field of study, a body of ideas, or a profession, involving simultaneous or alternating emotions of love and enmity. Sometimes the person may love the other person/object, but hate oneself for it. This relationship can, but does not have to be of a romantic nature.

Here are other’s ideas of love-hate relationships from friends and associates of mine

Jon describes it as: Being trapped between two diametrically opposite feelings…I love playing my guitar. I love playing music with all my heart and yet when I play and practice, I hate the fact that I ever got into it because after 20 years I feel like I still suck and I hate that I am moved to keep trying.

Robin describes it as: A love/hate relationship is equally liking and disliking parts of their personalities to the point where you are left in limbo.

Jamaica described it as: Its everything and nothing at the same time for the briefest moments.

Marlene says: With such passion I detest you; and yet the same passion draws me near

I found the following today and just wanted to add it in, to close off today’s post….

“When you’ve been around the block a few times, you tend to be a bit cynical about affairs of the heart. But sometimes, in spite of your best intentions, love sneaks up and whacks you upside the head. And there you are: wandering around in a blissful haze, totally besotted.”

Drink with me

I’m bored and a lil lonely tonight. But not letting it get me down. I had nothing to blog about today, trying to think of what to blog about. I wanted to take a photo of the beautiful moon tonight but this will have to do. So who wants to pop this open with me?

Google’s 1st Page

For a while I’ve been showing up #1 for the keywords “Heathers Blog” on Google’s first page and that is fantastic. But now I am coming up #8 for the keyword “Heather” on the first page. Every so often I would google search my first name to see if I can find it, being how it’s such a common name I didn’t expect to find it w/o going in 7-8 pages like I used to have to. But the other day I received an email from another Heather that made me want to google my first name again…

Here is the email I received

Hey – I was playing some silly google game (you type in your name and visit the top 10 links it brings up and anyways…) and your blog came up (my name is Heather too, obviously). Anyways, read your blog (at least some of it, whew! Lots of info and great pics) and really enjoyed it. I guess thats kinda funny to say but you have a great way of posting information and I love the photos. Well thanks for putting yourself out there and doing something cool on the web.

Anyhow here is a screenshot for proof, just click to enlarge

SD Comic-Con 2007

Today Brandon and I conquered our first Comic-Con experience. And when I say we conquered I’m not lying, in the 4 days that it goes on Thursday-Sunday it brings in over 100,000 people from all over. So you can only imagine how crowded it is in there and how hard it can be to get a decent shot. Everyday was sold out and thankfully Brandon’s Grandmother works at the Convention Center so we got our tickets free and requested Friday tickets knowing it would be really crazy on the weekend. So here we go with the pics since they really do say a thousand words…

Find these and many more pictures here in my photo gallery

Outside the Convention Center

Yep were at the right spot

Wasn’t supposed to take these next two shots but I didn’t know till after the fact because there were lots of others taking shots…then we saw the signs and a guy came up to us asking us to not take pictures.

Marina Sirtis – Counselor Deanna Troi from Star Trek – The Next Generation (she actually posed for a few shots for others)

LeVar Burton – Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge from Star Trek – The Next Generation (he didn’t want to look up at anyone)

When this next guy got up on one of the stages everyone went crazy snaping away with their cameras. I had no idea who he was but wanted to go over and find out.

This is Stan Lee and for those who are not familiar with who he is…here is some information taken from Wikipedia: The first superhero group Lee and artist Jack Kirby created was the family the Fantastic Four. Its immediate popularity led Lee and Marvel’s illustrators to produce a cavalcade of new titles. With Kirby, Lee created the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, the Mighty Thor and the X-Men; with Bill Everett, Daredevil; and with Steve Ditko, Doctor Strange and Marvel’s most successful character, Spider-Man. He is also credited along with Kirby with the creation of the Silver Surfer.

When Brandon had to go to the bathroom out in the halls we found this familiar guy roaming the halls, maybe he wanted some Starbucks (I wanted it too till I saw the line that wrapped around the corner). I wanted to have my picture taken with Brandon in this one but the guy was already asked a billion times to pose for pics and I didn’t want him to have to wait while I found someone to take the pic for us, but what do you expect when you show up dressed like that…(lots of Star Wars pics in the gallery)

We even find star wars guys outside roaming the streets of Downtown San Diego

A View of a Train

When you spend 7 hours in transportation to have a 3 hour visit with a friend you must be crazy right? Not to me, but that is just the way I am. Yesterday I went to see Jeni. Usually I would take an hour drive up there but now that I’m car less it’s not so fast or easy. It takes about 10 minutes on the city bus, to get to the trolley station, 60 minutes on the trolley, a 10-15 minute wait to board the Amtrak then another 100 minute train trip from San Diego to Irvine. You spend your time with the incredible cute Sophie, Jeni and Soenke to turn around 3 hours later and repeat it all over in reverse. On the way home though was a little different having to stand for 40 minutes of the trip being how we chose to come home on the rush hour commuter train. So what do you do between little naps? You take totally unneeded photos of what your staring at turn it into a mini collage and then blog them.

The Metrolink up in Irvine while waiting for our Amtrak

Alot of the trip is alot of dirt and mountains while you pass through military training camps and such but then you get alot of nice views like this as well

Finally we get back to San Diego and have to wait for our trolley, this particular station is in a few movies as well as Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition video game
